Signing a book contract with a publisher is an exciting step for an author particularly if it’s your first book, but it’s only the first step of many. Once the book is published it must come to the attention of the readers. A beautiful cover will help your sales but if all the reader sees is your spine next to thousands of others you have to make them remember your name.

This important yet all too often forgotten step is done through good publicity. Some publishers promote their authors’ books, but the vast majority don’t.
